If you work with Dynamics 365, you've heard this one: "Why is there so much empty space on the screen?"
Microsoft now has an answer. It's called Display Density, and it's in preview for model-driven apps.
What it does
It tightens the gaps between fields, rows and buttons, so you see more on one screen and scroll less. The buttons and fields stay the same size. Only the space around them shrinks.
The three choices
- Comfortable: what you have today
- Cozy: a little tighter
- Compact: the most on one screen
How to switch it on
Go to Settings, then Personal settings, then Appearance, then Display density.
Can't see the Appearance tab? The app's new header and navigation isn't turned on yet.
Good to know
- Admins and makers can set a default, but each user's own choice wins.
- Some controls don't tighten up yet, including custom PCF controls with fixed spacing. Test yours.
- It's a preview. Microsoft expects general availability around November 2026.
Why it matters for AI
When the Copilot pane is open, your form gets narrower. Compact gives some of that room back.
